To discover what the parlay odds for one bet is we need to convert these American odds into their decimal odds equivalent. If you are betting online then most sports betting sites can do this automatically, but the formula is very simple for favorites or underdogs. For underdogs (or plus odds) you need this formula: (plus odds + 100) / 100. Payouts for a parlay are fixed by the time the bet is placed. Even if the lines and odds for an individual game move, the parlay lines and odds won’t change from when the parlay bet was placed. The parlay bet won’t be changed whether the lines change for or against the bettor. There are two different ways in which parlay payouts can be calculated, either using true odds or fixed odds. For fixed odds, all the selections in a parlay have to be at 1-110 odds. Therefore, they are commonly used for parlays that involve total selections and point spread. The number of selections in the wager is directly related to payouts.

What is a Parlay?

A parlay is a bet that combines two or more picks for a larger payout than normal wagers at U.S. sportsbooks. All picks in a single parlay must cover in order to win the parlay bet. Covering five of six games in a six-team parlay counts the same as losing six of six games. Put simply, a parlay requires perfection.

With more risk comes more reward. Two-team parlays (or two-teamers) typically pay 2.6-to-1 and three-team parlays pay 6-to-1. You can add more picks for larger payouts. The payouts above are based on normal-juiced spreads (-110). However, not all spreads are juiced -110. For example, sometimes you will find a side or total -/+105 or -/+120, making parlay calculations a little more difficult. (Learn how to read lines here.)

Moreover, payouts are different when you parlay moneylines, which are particularly common when it comes to betting on the MLB, NHL, and MMA.

For example, look at this hypothetical $10 MLB parlay:

  • New York Yankees -210
  • Boston Red Sox -165
  • Over 8 -120 (Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves)

Enter the price of each pick above (-210, -165 & -120) into the parlay calculator along with the wager size. If you entered everything correctly the payout should read $33.46. The heavy favorites in the parlay decrease the size of the payout.

Now look at this $10 parlay of NFL underdogs:

  • Philadelphia Eagles +180
  • Indianapolis Colts +250
  • New York Giants +365

Again, enter the parlay prices and the wager amount. This time the payout is $445.7 since the parlay consists of big underdogs.

Keep in mind, most sportsbooks do not allow correlated parlays. So you would not be able to parlay the Eagles moneyline and the Eagles spread together, since the Eagles covering the spread increases the odds of the Eagles winning the moneyline. You can often parlay an over/under bet with a spread or moneyline bet from the same game, but there are occasional restrictions depending on the numbers.

The parlay calculator, along with other sports betting tools for NFL, MLB, NBA & more, will help serious and recreational sports bettors alike save time and money as they navigate legal US sportsbooks.

It’s no secret that the Super Bowl is the most heavily bet sporting event of the year. The last year saw a spike in the number of legalized states and online sports betting platforms. These developments ensure that there will be many new bettors taking their first stab at hitting a big score while watching the big game.

According to Bill Miller, President and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA), Sunday’s contest between the Chiefs and Bucs is expected to be “the largest single-event legal handle in American sports betting history.”

Parlays and prop bets are great ways to increase your Super Bowl Sunday wagering enjoyment. If you want to go for a big score this Sunday, you can combine the two and maybe get a big hit on the cheap.

Let’s take a look at these two bet types, and then dive into how to build a ticket along with potential payouts available at FanDuel Sportsbook PA.

What is a parlay, and how can I build one with a prop bet?

A parlay is a bet ticket that includes multiple wagers. All the individual wagers on a parlay must hit or the ticket is a loser. Parlays are long-shot bets that offer the chance of scoring a substantial payday with a relatively small investment.

A prop bet is a bet made on an event/occurrence during a game that does not directly affect the game’s final outcome (i.e. first player to score a TD). If a bettor is willing to accept increased risk, some prop bets can reward handsomely.

Below is a quick reference guide of potential three-way parlay tickets that include two game outcome bets (team spread or moneyline bet and over/under points total) combined with one prop bet.

The payouts listed are based on a theoretical $100 wager with odds from the FanDuel app at the time of writing. Odds may fluctuate prior to kickoff. You will notice that as the odds go up, so does the potential payout. That is because the chances of the ticket coming in are lower (higher risk).

Note: These examples are meant to show potential payouts on a $100 bet and are not intended to be recommended wagers.

Whatever combo or wager you choose, remember to keep betting fun and enjoy the game!
